Hand crafted wood sculpture

Shown here are just a few of Terry's recent sculptures. The angels and patron saints he carves are usually half to life size or more although he sometimes sculpts tabletop figures to order. The other carvings… whimsical bears to fiercely lifelike eagles and hawks, fantasy figures and children… are usually one quarter to life size or more. When he gets an inspiration to create a figure he doesn't always find the time to get right on it, but the idea simmers and when he does start a new piece he is almost always surprised at the size the piece wants to be. Terry does not force the sculpture. It becomes. Like many artists throughout the ages, he finds that he merely translates what is already there. The figure is within and he sets it free.
